Eckford Quarry

At the time the 1966 history was written, the sandpit was in the Kaim Wood which is behind the house called Starland on the B6401. It closed at the end of 1968. The present sandpit opened between the Grahamslaw crossroads and Easter Wooden in October 1968 and Mini Cement started in 1995. The annual tonnage of sand removed from there is 75,000 tons. It is expected to continue until 2011.
